I don't understand why LASIK is advertised by some doctors for as low as $199 and much higher by others.
It is VERY important that you understand that some less ethical practitioners who advertise extremely low prices for LASIK (e.g. $199 or $299 per eye) are often not disclosing the "hidden" costs of the procedures not in the advertisement. Treatment of astigmatism, high nearsightedness, pre- and post-surgical examinations and care, pharmaceuticals, surgical supplies, post-op care kits, wavefront measurement and many other items are often not included in the advertised price. Additionally, those advertisers often utilize much older technology, rather than the state-of-the-art instrumentation that we use. In short, please DON'T BE FOOLED BY EXTREMELY LOW ADVERTISED LASIK PRICES.

What are my options in paying for LASIK?
We gladly accept the following forms of payment:

How do I apply for "12 Months Same as Cash" or other payment plans?
We work with two outside finance companies, Care Credit and Unicorn Financial, to provide as many options as possible. Your Dakota LASIK Coordinator can help with the application process. Once submitted by computer, approval takes only a few moments. You can also apply now at www.unicornfinancial.com or call toll-free to 1-888-519-6111 and have our merchant ID# 31372 ready. The application is fast, easy and confidential.

What about insurance or flexible spending accounts (FLEX)?
LASIK is not typically included as a benefit of most insurance plans. Fortunately, however, you may pay for LASIK through a flexible spending account if offered by your employer. Flexible spending accounts or "FSA's" enable employees to set aside pre-tax dollars for future medical expenses. Ask your employer's human resources department or employee benefits coordinator if such a plan is available to you.

When do I pay for the procedure?
Payment for LASIK is due before your procedure. If you elect a payment plan, please note that these are subject to credit qualification and that all of your financing arrangements must be in place prior to the day of your procedure. It is also important to understand the specific repayment requirements of the various plans. Your LASIK Coordinator will be happy to review the options with you. If you choose to pay by check, please bring your valid driver's license with you.
