Newest OS question by E.J.: What is the latest OS you can install on an iBook G4 and will it operate Microsoft Business office?
I am upgrading an iBook G4 and would like to know what is the latest OS model that can be put in and also, what is the most current version of Microsoft Workplace that this device will run.

You ought to be able to operate ten.five if you can get at minimum one GB of RAM in there (two GB would be *considerably* greater). As far as Microsoft Business office goes, I would suggest that you get Open Office http://openoffice.org for totally free as a substitute. It is appropriate with all variations of Microsoft Phrase, Excel, and Energy Position.
Although mine finally updated after about 30 tries, for those who keep getting the activation busy server message, apparently if you disconnect from the internet while it’s extracting the software (have to be quick!) it’ll skip the activation server and update!
The other option (that worked for me on 2 iPhones in the house) is to close down iTunes (you have to install it using iTunes) and unplug your iPhone. Once you’ve done that, reconnect the iPhone and let iTunes load up by itself. Once it loads it’ll ask you whether you want to install the update – fingers crossed you won’t get the iPhone activation server error.
Yay, the disconnect from internet thing finally worked for me after trying all sorts of resets and restarts. (in win7 itunes doesn’t auto-launch on connecting iphone)
